September 2008: Potable Water Production in Rural Vietnam : Charity Concert in Singapore
EET coorganize an Artistic & Charity event Supported by the French Embassy in Singapore
The humanitarian project for potable water in rural Vietnam (VPWP) was launched in 2004 by the founders of EET. In 2005, the project received very positive responses during their field trips in Vietnam especially from UNICEF and the Vietnamese water authorities.
This long-term project aims at the sustainable development of potable water supply in rural areas of Vietnam. Social issues are taken into account and water treatment modules will be installed on sites of need. The water treatment modules are compact, robust and reliable. Running and maintenance is easy and will be done by local teams after a training period of 1 to 2 weeks. Furthermore, as it was confirmed during the three field trips, most spare parts are produced and available in Vietnam (not only in large cities but also in cities close to the need). Water production on sites of need avoids costly distribution piping and leakages as well as harmful contaminations.
The project is now managed by EET. Importantly, it remains a pro bono and charity project as EET has accepted to carry on without any profit for a period of at least 5 years.
