At the opening of the annual conference of the association Paris Europlace, Gerard Mestrallet, president of the association, said that he gave to the Haut Comité de Place (HCP), led by the French Minister of Economy, Industry and Employment, Ms Christine Lagarde, a report detailing 12 priority projects to strengthen the attractiveness of the French financial industry.

 

This report, written with the help of the Boston Consulting Group, gives a series of ideas to develop the main assets of the Parisian financial place, especially compared to the City. “Paris scored points over the City […] The prestige of the City has been affected, but we should not underestimate its bounce-back ability.” said Mr Mestrallet during an interview to the French economic newspaper Les Echos.

 

More importantly, the association considers that Paris could become the reference location  for the environmental finance if it could get the regulation tools which could provide the ability to welcome in France carbon funds as well as attract the future primary market for carbon quotas trading.
